The following inspirational quote from Margaret Mead has special significance for me, because it reminds me of my experiences on Toronto Island when a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens saved the Toronto Island community. I was part of that group, and I wrote about my experiences, in the chapter “A Message from Pan” in my book When We Were Gods: Insights on Atlantis, Past Lives, Angelic Beings of Light and Spiritual Awakening:

Although it is not technically spring yet, nonetheless, the days have been lovely and filled with sunshine, blue skies, and fresh breezes. It reminds me of a poem from my childhood:
“Spring is sprung,
Da grass is riz,
I wonder where da boidies is.”“Da boid is on da wing.”
“Dat’s funny. I thought da wing was on da boid.”

These inspirational poem used to be posted above the keyboard of Gerald Andress, one of my high school teachers. From what I know of him, he lived by the ideals in this poem:
Not what we have ~ but what we use,
Not what we see ~ but what we choose.
These are the things that mar or bless
The sum of human happiness. The things nearby ~ not things afar,
Not what we seem ~ but what we are.
These are the things that make or break
That give the heart its joy or ache. Not what seems fair ~ but what is true,
Not what we dream ~ but what we do.
These are the things that shine like gems
Like stars in fortune’s diadems. Not what we take ~ but what we give,
Not as we pray ~ but as we live.
These are the things that make for peace
Both now and after time shall cease.
“You don’t have to go up to the highest mountain or down to the deepest sea. It is here with you all the time. And so it is with everyone. It is only that you have been taught and that your eyes do not see the glow of the Light Being you are.”
~ Carol Chapman, When We Were Gods

Always, when the days are cold, I dream of next year’s garden. But …
“A garden is never so good as it will be next year.”
~ Thomas Cooper
That quote reminds me that the real garden is never as good as the garden I’ve planned and dreamed about in my mind.
