The Legend of the Sorcerer Dwarf – Part 2

The Witch and the Sorcerer

In Arrival of the Gods in Egypt, I wrote about the sorcerer dwarf on page 154 saying that “I interviewed Santiago Domingez, a modern-day Maya whose family has lived for generations close to Uxmal. He told me the story, handed down from his grandparents, of the witch. She was lonely. Therefore, she took an egg and hatched out of it a dwarf who became her companion.”

I had heard this story before. Possibly I read it in a guidebook or read it in a book about the Maya. In the stories I had read, there was no mention of the witch being lonely. These stories would just proclaim that this witch decided to hatch a dwarf out of an egg which sounded like some nonsensical story fabricated by primitive people to make sense of their world.

However, when I heard the story from Santiago, I saw that the legend had a deeper meaning. Santiago said that the witch was lonely and that it was her loneliness that caused her to hatch the dwarf out of the egg. The story became a creation story on a par with the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Adam was also lonely and had his companion, Eve, was created in an amazing manner.

In Arrival of the Gods in Egypt, I continued by referring to Edgar Cayce’s concept of twin souls. I believe the egg represents the primordial soul that becomes two twin souls.

This legend of the witch and dwarf sorcerer refers to that time when single souls separated into twins. The witch and the dwarf are the twin souls.

While in Yucatan this December, I talked again with Santiago. It was good to see him. I wanted to make sure that I photographed the correct stone carving of the dwarf when I visited Uxmal last January. He assured me that I had. However, he said that researchers at the Uxmal archeological zone said that the carving his grandparents described as the dwarf was actually supposed to be the king. I told Santiago that I took more stock in the traditions of his grandparents than a modern-day researcher’s opinions. Santiago said that since the dwarf became the king it made sense that the carving of the king could also be the dwarf.

I had good reasons for supporting the long-lasting traditions of Santiago’s traditional grandparents. Last January, when we visited Uxmal, we stayed for the nighttime Sound and Light show. To my great disappointment, there was no mention of the Legend of the Sorcerer Dwarf and the Witch. Instead, they told a fabricated story about young men of one village vying for a Mayan princess’s hand or something along that line.

It was a simple story that had nothing to do with the magnificent ruins of Uxmal which reverberate with intrinsic mystery because the main pyramid is named the Pyramid of the Sorcerer or as Santiago calls it, “Piramide de Adivino” and there is also a ruin named the Witch’s House.

Santiago said it also made him sad that the traditional legends were not included in the Sound and Light show.

Definitely disappointing.

Is the Martian Moon Phobos a Satellite Made by Martians?

Today I found the origin of the theory that the moons of Mars, Deimos and Phobos, or anyway, Phobos might be hollow and therefore artificially made satellites.

In the late 1950s and 1960s, the unusual orbital characteristics of Phobos led to speculations that it might be a hollow artificial object.

Around 1958, Russian astrophysicist Iosif Samuilovich Shklovsky, studying the secular acceleration of Phobos’ orbital motion, suggested a “thin sheet metal” structure for Phobos, a suggestion which led to speculations that Phobos was of artificial origin.[

Phobos (moon) – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The article goes on to say that “S. Fred Singer, then science advisor to U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower, came out in support of Shklovsky’s theory, stating that ‘[Phobos’] purpose would probably be to sweep up radiation in Mars’ atmosphere, so that Martians could safely operate around their planet.'”

“Very interesting,” is all I can say.

2012, Eros, Extraterrestrials and the Moons of Mars

In researching near earth asteroid 433 Eros and its possible impact on the 2012 end of the world predictions, I came upon this very interesting information:

Its approximate diameters are 40 x 14 x 14 km making it the second largest planet-crosser and larger than the Martian moons Phobos and Deimos.

The Near Earth Asteroid Mission to 433 Eros

This interests me because it makes the outrageous claim that an asteroid, in this case 433 Eros, is larger than  the moons of Mars: Phobos and Deimos.

That’s amazing! I vaguely remember reading something years ago that Phobos and Deimos are so small and light in weight that there has been some speculation by people who think “outside the box” that they could be satellites left by an extinct civilization or the abandoned spaceships of extraterrestrials.

The Mayan Legend of the Sorcerer Dwarf – Part 1

OK, so where was I?

Oh yeah, now I remember. I was about to tell you the Legend of the Sorcerer Dwarf . . . but then, Christmas came along and everything stopped for a while.

I hope you had a wonderful time during the Holidays, whether you celebrated it traditionally with family and friends or quietly at home by yourself enjoying the time to relax or any other way.

I am always amazed at how everything so quickly gets back to normal. For me, after all the running around doing last minute gift shopping, going to parties, preparing many meals and wrapping presents, suddenly, it is all over and everything returns to just the way it was.

Well, almost. There is still that warm rosey glow that lingers after being together with loved ones.

So, now, back to the Sorcerer Dwarf. It is this legend that originally brought me years ago to the archeological ruins at Uxmal in the Mexican State of Yucatan.

Edgar Cayce’s trance source said that citizens of Atlantis had established colonies in Yucatan in anticipation of their homeland being destroyed by earthquakes. But, where in the Yucatan had the Atlanteans settled?

I figured that wherever Atlanteans had been, a residual myth or legend would pervade the region handed down through the generations.

This legend would also had to have a magnificent flavor to it similar to the legends surrounding the construction of the Great Pyramid in Egypt, which I believe was also constructed, at least partially, by Atlanteans.

For example, as I wrote on page 149 in When We Were Gods, “There is an ancient Arab legend that says that the [great] pyramids were built by supernatural beings called the jinn, entities who could enter animal bodies and even stones.”

So, here’s the legend of the Sorcerer Dwarf. It makes the outrageous claim that the sorcerer dwarf built the main Uxmal pyramid in one night. Now, if that isn’t a legend derived from Atlantis, I don’t know what is!

Because it has rounded sides and is oval rather than square, this pyramid is also the most unusual pyramid in the Yucatan and perhaps in the world.

More on 2012 and the Near Earth Asteroid 433 Eros

Here’s more information on the near earth asteroid 433 Eros that some people think might be the cause of the 2012 end of the world prophecies. Some people think that 433 Eros might collide with earth in 2012 when its orbit is close to earth.

433 Eros, discovered in 1898 by G. Witt, was the first asteroid discovered to cross within the orbit of Mars and to approach that of Earth.

However, if you click through to the above UCLA paper, which is about a spacecraft sent to bring back information about Eros, you’ll find a diagram of Eros’ orbit relative to the earth. Even when Eros is closest to the earth, it is very far away.

2012: A Too-close Encounter with Eros?

Yesterday, I quoted an excerpt from a blog that said that 433 Eros, a Near Earth Asteroid, would pass close to earth on January 31, 2012. The blog writer wondered if this close encounter might lead to a collision and be the cause of the end of the world 2012 predictions.

Here’s an excerpt from an official NASA site that says that, not only has Eros already passed close to the earth many times, but it will NOT collide with the Earth in 2012 or any other time.

The closest approach of Eros to Earth in the 20th century was on January 23, 1975, at approximately 0.15 AU (14 million miles/22 million kilometers). Previous close approaches occurred in 1901 at 0.32 AU (30 million miles/48 million kilometers) and in 1931 at 0.17 AU (16 million miles/26 million kilometers). Because of its repeated close encounters with Earth, Eros has been an important object historically for refining the mass of the Earth-moon system and the value of the astronomical unit. Eros is no threat to actually hit the Earth, however.

Near Earth Asteroid 433 Eros Earth Collision in 2012?

Have your heard about this Near Earth Asteroid 433 Eros? Some people think an Eros collision with earth in 2012 will cause the predicted “end of the world” in 2012, for example, in this excerpt from a blogpost:

Is this the Asteriod 433 Eros, the first discovered Near-Earth asteroid, smashing through our atmospere? Eros is one of the few NEAs with a maximum diameter greater than 10 km. It is believed to be larger than the impactor that created Chicxulub Crater in the Yucatán, which has been linked to the Apocalypse (extinction) of the dinosaurs.
On January 31, 2012, Eros is expected to pass Earth, Is this the 2012 Apocalypse??

2012 APOCALYPSE

The article goes on to say that:

Objects in an orbit like Eros can exist for only a few hundred million years before the orbit is perturbed by gravitational interactions. Simulations suggest that Eros may evolve into an Earth-crosser with Apocalyptic power.

What do you think? Does 433 Eros have the capability of becoming an “Apocalyptic Power?”

The Aliens Are NOT Coming

Here’s an example of many, many people – thousands – knowing they have seen a UFO. However, it turns out they were wrong.

Mannheim – Germany’s UFO hotline has been inundated with thousands of calls from people who have mistaken glowing lights in the night sky for alien space objects.

The red-gold lights were in fact balloons that have become the latest festive season fad, according to Werner Walter of the Central Research Network for Unusual Sky Phenomena (CENAP).

The sightings were “nothing but hot air”, said the UFO expert, referring to the sky lanterns which have been sold for the first time at Christmas markets and garden centres across the country.

Inspiration on New Year’s Day

Here’s an excerpt from a great blog post by Garold N. Larson:

One of the greatest tragedies in this world are those who fail to find and achieve their purpose or mission in life. This article will help you discover what your mission in life is.

An Overpowering Mission in Life | Self-Mastery

It’s just what I needed to read this New Year’s Eve Day. I’ve got a nasty cold that’s been going around and am sitting by my computer wearing my down jacket and wrapped in a wool blanket because of chills. On a day like today, I don’t feel like doing much except that I’m compelled to open the video files of my Yucatan mystery lands movie.

What I like the most about Garold’s post is his analogy to a steam engine. He says, “

Before that train could move, the water temperature in the boiler had to reach two hundred and twelve degrees. Water will not generate steam at two hundred degrees. Even two hundred and ten degrees will not create the steam to move a train. For water to boil and steam to be generated it must reach the temperature of two hundred and twelve degrees. Lukewarm water will not move anything.

I believe the vast majority of people in life are like the train trying to move with lukewarm water – almost boiling but never quite there. They wonder why their life is stalled, why they never seem to be able to move forward. They work hard but success seems to elude them.

The temperature difference between water that is boiling and water that is not is only a degree or two but the difference in results can be dramatic. In the same sense the difference between a person with an overpowering mission in life and someone who is merely living life can seem small but the results are without comparison.”

I encourage you to follow through on this link to read the rest of the post:http://garoldlarson.com/2008/12/31/an-overpowering-mission-in-life/

OK, let me admit. I feel afraid that my Yucatan mystery lands movie won’t do well. I keep putting off starting the editing because of my fears. But this morning, even feeling as crummy as I do, I had already opened my video files intending to start editing but was on the verge of putting off starting again. And, I LOVE editing movies. I went to school for filmmaking. What am I waiting for? Just do it for the sheer joy of it, Carol! Down jacket, wool blanket, tissues and all.

212 degrees fahrenheit! Go for it, girl!

Thanks, Garold!

Blessings,

Carol Chapman
