Is It True If You Die in Your Dreams You Die?

Is it true if you die in your dreams you die? Have you had that kind of dream? Have you ever had a dream in which you found yourself dead? Please share in the comments section below.

Although a dream in which you die can be very frightening, it seldom means you’re going to die. In the video below, I’ll show you what a “dream of myself dead” often means.

Of course, when you wake up with your heart pounding, having just seen yourself dead in a dream, it’s normal to wonder:

  • Is it true if you die in your dream you die?
  • What does it mean when you dream about your own death?
  • Why did I dream of myself being dead?

I know, because I also had a dream of myself being dead. And, yes, I woke up terrified! My first thought was: “Does this mean I’m going to die?” Watch the video below:

Naturally I feared that when you die in your dreams, you die in your waking life.

So, the death dream symbol became important for me to discover. I can assure you that I felt relieved to learn that if the answer to the question: “Is it true if you die in your dreams you die?” is usually, “No!” In fact, it’s actually a much more encouraging and hopeful dream.

I hope you find the video helpful. Here’s the Timeline for the video if you want to go back and check on something:

Remember if you’ve died in your dreams, please share it below in the comments section. If it’s responsive to you, also share how you felt during the dream and how you felt when you woke up.

By the way, my interest in dreams started in my early childhood, because my grandmother would ask us about our dreams at the breakfast table. Then, she’d tell us the meanings, translating from her Ukrainian dream dictionary into English. So, interpreting dreams has been a part of my life from a very early age.

I’ve found that, when helping people to understand their dreams, the hardest part of it is to see how certain dream symbols apply to a person’s actual life. You’ll often find so many suggestions online or in dream dictionaries. Either you don’t know which one applies to you, or none of them resonate with you or your particular dream of finding yourself dead. Although you can find many suggested dream meanings, the question is:

  • What do these dream symbols mean to me?
  • Which one, of the many, apply to my life?
  • What can I do about it?

Therefore, I’ve put together an easy, quick, three-step checklist that will help you to get that “ah hah,” of understanding what your particular dream about past love interest means specifically to you. The checklist also shows you how you can use the information from your dream to improve your life. Here’s the link to getting the checklist, which is on the homepage of this website.

Last night I dream about myself dying over and over again. What does it mean?

Hi Alisa, So what was happening the day before you had the dream? What were you thinking about or planning? Is your life changing? Are you contemplating some big changes? Is something new coming? You may not think they were big changes, but, by the sounds of it, your body feels like it’s about to go through big changes.

I have had many dreams that feel like they have come true. I experience something and I’m like huh I dreamt of this.
Last year I had a very real dream I was driving, my children in the back. I for some reason veered off to the right, on the slip road, ( quite a drop down to a empty space) falling, the car turning over and just before it crashed I prayed to god to keep us.
It’s concerned me many times these past few months.
I’ve taken similar roads very recently (not with my children) and with trepidation and prayer at time of driving, fearful, I’m still here.

Hi Sharon, it’s so hard to know when you’re a person who sometimes has dreams that come true. You wonder, will this dream come true too? I know, because I also have dreams that come true. Here’s a link to a video about how I met my husband first in a dream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nubheqB5dk&t=1. However, it’s especially difficult if the dream has a devastating outcome. Fortunately, most dreams should not be taken literally. In fact, most dreams are symbolic. So, let’s look at the symbols here. To begin, to dream of driving off the road could mean an unexpected turn off the path of your life. Do you remember what was going on in your waking life at the time you had the dream? Was there a big change at that time? Did it affect your children? Sometimes a car turning over can mean that your plans were “turned over” or changed. That’s because the road symbolizes your path or direction in life. Last year, were your plans turned over? And remember, usually dreaming about dying symbolically mean making a big change in your life, becoming a new person. It’s like all the symbols in your dream point to the same thing: some big change occurred in your waking life a year ago. In addition, if it were my dream, because it occurred a year ago and it hasn’t come true yet, I’d assume it most likely had to do with a symbolic representation of what was going on in my waking life at the time. I hope that helps.
