Possible parts of the lost continent of Lemuria discovered off the coast of Australia
It was once a megacontinent. It encompassed present-day Australia, Antarctica, and India. We call it Gondwana.
Parts of the submerged portions of Gondwana were found a month ago off the cost of Australia. Rocks on the underwater “islands” show fossils that once existed in shallow coastal waters, not in their present location, 2,000 meters or 6,600 feet–more than a mile–below the ocean floor . These submerged islands had likely once been above water.
Were they once part of the lost continent of Lemuria?

Interestingly, Europeans feared the end of the world as long ago as the 1500s, during the time the Spanish were exploring and conquering the Americas. The 2012 end of the world mania is not new.

In fact, astrological end-time predictions were popular in the 1500s, when Franciscan missionaries began voyaging to the New World. In 1524, Hoopes said, an astrological conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter spurred fears of a second Great Flood, touching off panic.
“They were actually preparing for this catastrophe by buying real estate on high places and by stocking up on whatever the 16th-century equivalent of duct tape and bottled water was,” Hoopes said.
Biblical doomsday predictions would have certainly made it to Mayan ears, Hoopes said. In other words, Mayan prophecies simply appropriated Christian theology.
“The world for the Mayas really did end in the Spanish conquest,” Hoopes said. “So they incorporated that into their explanation of what was happening to them.”

It’s been another day of writing descriptions of seminar topics. Today, one of the topics I wrote about is called, The Advent of the Fifth Root Race. The “root races” are an extremely “far out” topic associated with the types of people that populated Lemuria and Atlantis. The Austrian occultist Rudolph Steiner and the Ukrainian mystic Madame Helena Petrovna Blavatsky also wrote about them. My main source for information on the root races are the psychic readings of Edgar Cayce. As far out as this topic is, there are many people who are intrigued by it. I will be discussing the root races, and specifically the advent of the fifth root race, on Thursday, April 18th, in the evening, in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada.

A YouTube video entitled The Lost Continent of Atlantis includes an interview with Graham Hancock of Fingerprints of the Gods fame. In the video, Hancock says that he believe Atlantis was a Maritime civilization that settled along many of the coastlines of the world. At the end of the Ice Age around 12,500 B.C., when the ice melted, these coastal settlements became submerged. In Hancock’s opinion, therefore, Atlantean ruins will be found underwater all over the world. He sites both Mediterrean and eastern Atlantic Ocean ruins as examples of likely Atlantean sites.

According to the Wikipedia article entitled, “Location Hypotheses of Atlantis,” Jaime Manuschevich believes that Atlantis was located in the territory that “today corresponds to Israel and Sinai.”

Was Atlantis in the Mediterranean Sea?
From my point of view, it does not make sense that Atlantis would have been in the Mediterranean Sea since Atlantis is almost the same word as Atlantic. Therefore, I would expect it to be in the Atlantic Ocean.
Atlantis is not called, “Mediterranea.”
However, I see that a very informative Wikipedia article called, “Location Hypotheses of Atlantis,” lists about 12 locations in the Mediterranean from Andalusia to Troy.

Was the submerged land in the North Atlantic exposed during the Ice Age?
So, was the underwater land off the west coast of the Orkney-Shetland Islands exposed during the last Ice Age? As I wrote yesterday, according to Professor Arysio Santos, author of Atlantis: The Lost Continent Finally Found, at the end of the last Ice Age, some 11,600 years ago, sea level was 500 feet lower than it is now. Therefore, many of the lands that are currently underwater, were above sea level at that time.
I consulted the Mail Online article I wrote about in my July 19th posting to see how deep underwater the submerged land was off the west of the Orkney-Shetland Islands. And, it is too deep to qualify for Atlantis according to Prof. Santos’ theories.
