Here’s an excerpt from a great blog post by Garold N. Larson:
One of the greatest tragedies in this world are those who fail to find and achieve their purpose or mission in life. This article will help you discover what your mission in life is.
An Overpowering Mission in Life | Self-Mastery
It’s just what I needed to read this New Year’s Eve Day. I’ve got a nasty cold that’s been going around and am sitting by my computer wearing my down jacket and wrapped in a wool blanket because of chills. On a day like today, I don’t feel like doing much except that I’m compelled to open the video files of my Yucatan mystery lands movie.
What I like the most about Garold’s post is his analogy to a steam engine. He says, “
Before that train could move, the water temperature in the boiler had to reach two hundred and twelve degrees. Water will not generate steam at two hundred degrees. Even two hundred and ten degrees will not create the steam to move a train. For water to boil and steam to be generated it must reach the temperature of two hundred and twelve degrees. Lukewarm water will not move anything.
I believe the vast majority of people in life are like the train trying to move with lukewarm water – almost boiling but never quite there. They wonder why their life is stalled, why they never seem to be able to move forward. They work hard but success seems to elude them.
The temperature difference between water that is boiling and water that is not is only a degree or two but the difference in results can be dramatic. In the same sense the difference between a person with an overpowering mission in life and someone who is merely living life can seem small but the results are without comparison.”

OK, let me admit. I feel afraid that my Yucatan mystery lands movie won’t do well. I keep putting off starting the editing because of my fears. But this morning, even feeling as crummy as I do, I had already opened my video files intending to start editing but was on the verge of putting off starting again. And, I LOVE editing movies. I went to school for filmmaking. What am I waiting for? Just do it for the sheer joy of it, Carol! Down jacket, wool blanket, tissues and all.
212 degrees fahrenheit! Go for it, girl!
Thanks, Garold!
Blessings,
Carol Chapman

I’ve just completed a wonderful two-day seminar with the superb voice coach Arthur Joseph. It is amazing how resonant, strong and clear my voice sounds after Arthur’s amazing Vocal Awareness exercises and his patient kind coaching. Arthur provides such an atmosphere of emotional safety for all the participants. I loved hearing and feeling how everyone’s videotaped dialogue improved as a result of applying Arthur’s suggestions.
The event was held at The Abundance Network in Oceanside, California, which is north of San Diego:

Today I’m in California staying in a bed and breakfast with a wonderful lady who has been involved with Yogananda’s Self-Realization Fellowship since the 1970s. Her place is so beautiful and still. A calmness and serenity permeates the premises. It’s also lovely. I didn’t realize that the San Diego area is so hilly. I’m in a neighborhood of rolling hills, yucca plants, misty mornings and palm trees. Today, I’ll be going to an Arthur Joseph speaking seminar. Looking forward to it.

If you’re in one of those stuck or bewildered emotional places where you need some inspiration and encouragement, this is a great article. It’s from Alex Mandossian. I thought he was mainly known as a speaker, but his web site says he provides marketing know-how for information publishers, owners of small businesses and entrepreneurs.
Biographer Dr. Gene Landrum reports, “Creative geniuses (like Walt Disney) never give up and therefore seldom succumb to the vagaries of change and innovation.”
Story: When Disney drew the first Mortimer Mouse (later Mickey Mouse) many of his associates, including his brother, Roy, laughed at his creation.
His colleagues and critics did the same for The Three Little Pigs and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Both animated productions were labeled “Disney’s Folly.”
Walt’s Disneyland idea (now acknowledged as ”The Happiest Place On Earth”) was ridiculed as a “carny” idea from a man with a “Barnum and Bailey” mentality.
But Disney never allowed expert opinion or adversity to halt him from creating what he recognized as unique and innovative children’s entertainment.
It was his tenacity as an Entrepreneurial CEO that enabled him to protect his ideas and confidence to consequently build the world’s most famous animation empire and amusement park!

I especially like knowing that Disney launched his ideas, for example, Mortimer Mouse, before he was sure the idea was right. The name “Mortimer,” as the excerpt above states, must not have brought the results Disney wanted because he later changed the name to that of the very famous and beloved Mickey Mouse.
Right now, I’m in the process of reworking the title of my latest book, You Are Blessed, because the present title is not working. Me and Walt, together. It feels good to know I’m not the only one. I am encouraged.
I hope the article encourages you too.
Wishing you happiness and success,
Carol Chapman
