According to an online CBS News – Science article, the underwater land between England and France as well as the land between Scotland and Denmark, were above water until about 5,500 BC. At that time, rising sea levels and a tsunami submerged all of the land except for the remaining British Isles.
Dr. Richard Bates, geophysicist at St. Andrews University in Scotland, says that the now-submerged land provided food for both hunters and gatherers. What’s really exciting is that:
Among fossilized evidence of mammoths and large game animals, divers have found harpoons, flint tools and suspected burial sites they say belonged to residents of the submerged settlement more than 12,000 years ago.

Oil and gas companies searching for fuel below the seafloor are coming up with evidence of a land that was once above water.
For years, fishermen have been dredging up bones in the North Sea.
Therefore, it’s no surprise that geophysicist Richard Bates of the Department of Earth Sciences in St. Andrews, Scotland and his research team are finding promising clues of:

OK, maybe not the lost city of Atlantis, or, maybe it is. It is an ancient land submerged by the sea, formerly the home of woolly mammoths. Scientists are studying the lost land of Doggerland:
After a 15-year project to unearth the truth about Doggerland, its history has finally been pieced together through painstaking analysis of the bottom of the sea and artefacts brought up from the depths. On April 21, 2012, Carol Chapman presented an all-day event, Atlantis and Its Colonies in Egypt and Yucatan, at the Unitarian Hall in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, sponsored by the Nanaimo Metaphysical Network.
At this event, Carol explored the exciting topic of the lost continent of Atlantis. Although Atlantis has yet to be found, Carol believes that evidence of Atlanteans can be found in ruins in Egypt and Yucatan. Carol showed a PowerPoint Presentation in which she showed photographs of paintings in the pharaohs’ tombs and carvings on Mayan ruins that correlate with her past life regression memories of Atlanteans.
Carol also discussed information presented in trance readings by psychic Edgar Cayce for individuals with past lives in Atlantis. These “life readings” reveal the fascinating story of the exodus of survivors from the sinking Atlantis to safety lands in Egypt and Yucatan.

You really need to read the piece in its entirety. Not only is this a hilarious commentary on the “modern” trend to devalue tradition and human values, but also, it’s a great tongue-in-cheek comment on the mania to find Atlantis in many and diverse places. I must admit, reality stings at the thought of commercial development destroying a “miraculous habitation that has eradicated crime, poverty, and disease.” Bravo The Satirical Rogue!

With science accepting this as our basis for the premiss of existence, it will interfere many other branches of science. Archeology isn’t about discovering the truth of our past anymore, it’s about upholding the accepted version of what we call prehistoric fact. The history books have already been written, so when somebody comes across an anomalous find that just won’t fit into the accepted data it’s usually refuted, lost and forgotten. There have been numerous archeological finds that challenge what we know about history and it’s never accepted, it would change things.
So when Plato was told about the existence of Atlantis by the Egyptian priests, of course it was refuted. If a technological advanced civilization existed 9000 years ago as he was told, it would raise too many unanswered questions. Timeas and Critias, the two priests that relayed the tale to Plato, told him of an island continent in the Atlantic Ocean, beyond the Pillars of Hercules (Straight of Gebralter), that once waged war against the rest of the world. While attacking Athens a cataclysmic event caused this continent to become swallowed by the ocean. The survivors fled to Egypt and taught the Egyptians how to build the pyramids.

The following quote comes from what appears to be a new WordPress blog site devoted to Atlantis, OnlineAtlantic.com. It refers to a possible location of the lost city of Atlantis as being in Bolivia. Never heard of that one before, but it definitely piques my interest. In the first post I read that:
British Royal Air Force photo interpreter J.M. Allen thinks that Atlantis is in Altiplano, Bolivia, near the Andes Mountains.
