Brine Pickles and Nourishing Traditions

My family used to like to make brine-pickled cucumbers. These are delicious traditional pickles made by my grandparents, the recipe handed down for generations. The liquid or kvass is considered a medicinal drink.

My mother always said that she did not know why, but the cucumbers would not turn into pickles unless you used organic cucumbers.

I learned the hard way that she was right. When I put together brine, cucumbers, garlic, and fresh dill as she had instructed me, it turned into a smelly, slimey mess.

“Did you use organic cucumbers?” she asked me.

“Honestly, Mom, I didn’t think it could possibly matter,” I said.

“Now you know,” she said. She was right.

I’ve just discovered why non-organic cucumbers don’t work. The explanation is in Sally Fallon’s excellent cookbook, Nourishing Traditions. Organic pickles have more enzymes and cucumbers will not ferment if they don’t have enough enzymes.

This is a fantastic cookbook, full of nutritional advice and explanations for the nutritional basis of our grandparents’ wisdom in the kinds of foods they prepared.

2012: Edgar Cayce Says We Influence the Sun

On June 23rd, I wrote the following :

In reference to Jose Arguelles’ 3rd Prophecy: He said that the sun will produce more radiation due to an increase in vibration, one of the causes of the earth heating up.

Interestingly, Edgar Cayce says that humanity affects the sun’s radiation. In reading 5757-1 he says:

“For as ye do it unto the least, ye do it unto Thy maker–even as to the sun which reflects those turmoils that arise with thee; even as the earthquake, even as the wars and hates, even as the influences in thy life day by day.

“Then what are the sunspots? A natural consequence of that turmoil which the sons of God in the earth reflect upon same.” (Edgar Cayce Reading 5757-1)

Therefore, could it be that the sun’s predicted increase in radiation could be a result of our actions? What do you think?

2012: Edgar Cayce on Sun/Human Interation

In reading 5757-1, the “sleeping prophet” asks:

“Then, why and how do the effects of the sun so influence other life in the earth and not affect man’s life, man’s emotions?”

Then, he continues by saying:

As the sun has been set as the rule of this solar system, does it not appear to be reasonable that it has an effect upon the inhabitants of the earth, as well as upon plant and mineral life in the earth.”

He concludes by saying:

“. . . there is an influence in their [sun, moon, and stars] activity [on the life of man]. (Edgar Cayce reading 5757-1)

2012: Sun Changes Polarity/Earth Axis Shift

Adrian Gilbert and Maurice Cotterell, co-authors of The Mayan Prophecies, believe the ancient Maya predicted that the magnetic field of the sun would reverse polarities causing the earth to shift on its axis leading to disastrous earth changes.

2012: Jose Arguelles’ Sixth Prophecy

The sixth prophecy says that a comet will appear that will endanger mankind.

Other traditions such as the Bible have predicted this comet calling it wormwood.

This prediction does not necessarily say that the comet will hit the earth, but the possible danger will entice governments to cooperate with each other.

2012: Humanity May Affect Sun’s Radiation

In reference to Jose Arguelles’ 3rd Prophecy: He said that the sun will produce more radiation due to an increase in vibration, one of the causes of the earth heating up.

I wonder if the “Sun Greeting” suggested in my hypnosis session, which I wrote about in When We Were Gods, might help to decrease the harmful radiation coming from the sun.

2012: 3rd Mayan Prophecy from Jose Arguelles

According to Jose Arguelles, the third Mayan prophecy has to do with the heating up of the earth. He says the ancient Maya predicted that the earth would heat up for two reasons.

1. Man’s unconscious predatory behavior which creates a lack of harmony with nature

2. The sun will produce more radiation due to an increase in vibration.

2012: Jose Arguelles’ Second Prophecy

These are Jose Arguelles’ interpretation of ancient Mayan prophecies. He says that the second one says that human behavior will transform as of a result of an eclipse on August 11, 1999 in which the earth was in the middle of a cross made by the planets of the solar system.

As a result of this eclipse, the earth and its human inhabitants will be faced with a choice–either to live in a heaven of their own making in which they are willing to learn from suffering or else to live in a hell, also of their own making, in which they only satisfy their own egos trapped in a purely material understanding of their world.

Or anyway, that’s my interpretation of the interpretation of Jose Arguelles’ writings as put forward in the booklet, Mayan Prophecies.

2012: Jose Arguelles’ First Prophecy

Jose Arguelles’ first prophecy is chilling. It says that the earth will suffer a great cataclysm. He says that the sun will release a huge radiant flare on December 22, 2012 because a “synchronizing ray from the center of the galaxy” will hit it.

He also says that the world of hate and materialism will end on that date. Fear will also end.

I don’t know about you but when I see prophecies like this, fear begins.

2012: Jose Arguelles 4th & 5th Prophecies

Jose Arguelles’ 4th prophecy is no surprise: that the poles will melt because of global warming.

The 5th? That the present human systems built on fear will dissipate and harmony will prevail. That humanity believes the universe was made for it . . . but the realization will awaken that humans are merely part of a much greater whole.
