According to Charles H. Hapgood, in his The Path of the Pole, the magnetic field of the earth is in constant motion. It always drifts westward, as is the magnetic north pole described in articles about the closing of the Tampa airport runway. Hapgood assumes that the magnetic poles eventually come back to its original position, in line with the earth’s axis of rotation.
There are magnetic poles and geographical poles. They are seldom in the same place.
Is the present pole shift unusual? Will the poles reverse? Are we in the time before the 2012 cataclysm?

Here’s a link to an entertaining forum on the 2012 cataclysm. A member of the forum says they’re watching the “Nostradamus Effect” on the History Channel. The program says that as a result of the 2012 Extinction (that’s a cool name to call it!) 98% of humanity will be wiped out!

I recently saw the Public Broadcasting Station‘s shocking but beautiful documentary, Extreme Ice. Dazzling photographs of illustrate the possibly irreversible melting of crucial glaciers at the earth’s poles. Could this meltdown of the ice lead to a pole shift as predicted by Edgar Cayce? I vaguely remember reading in the foreword of one of Immanuel Velikovsky‘s books something about a shift in the ice at the poles possibly causing the earth’s crust to shift over our planet’s core like the rind over the inside of an orange. Could this be the 2012 cataclysm?

Here is an example of one of the many web sites touting a 2012 cataclysmic pole shift. For them, it is not if but when. They tout mountains as good places to survive a pole shift. However, based on The Path of the Pole by Professor Charles Hapgood, they believe that North and South America will not be as stable as Europe/Asia/Africa.
This site also, not too surprisingly, sells emergency supplies.
Which Continents are going to Shift with the events in 2012?
It is important to know in which direction the earth’s crust is going to shift if you are to predict what areas will be affected when the lithosphere begins to expand and shrink.
