Dream recall improves with sleep

During the question/answer period at the end of a recent talk in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, one woman asked me what she could do to improve her ability to remember dreams.

Dream recall is important, because one way to improve psychic ability is through dream interpretation. Of course, if you’re not remembering your dreams, you’re losing out on that opportunity for soul communication, the basis of psychic ability.

I told her that, in my experience, the first thing to do is to make sure you get enough sleep.

Dream Interpretation: Wig

Hair in dreams is supposed to indicate thoughts, because both hair and thoughts come out of our heads.

So what would a dream about a wig mean? Hiding your real thoughts?

Dream Analysis says that dreaming of a wig means:

A wig indicates someone is pretending they think a certain way with regard to the subject matter of the dream.

Dream Interpretation: Water

I notice that I have a lot of dreams that involve water.

Well, guess what? According to my favorite dream interpretation author Gillian Holloway, PhD, water in dreams is probably the most common dream symbol. In her The Complete Dream Book, she says that even people who are not knowledgeable about dream interpretation notice that their dreams often include:

“… floods, lakes and tidal waves.”

Whew, I’m glad I’m not the only one.

Dream Interpretation: Baiyou

In yesterday’s dream, I described a dream in which a house was almost surrounded by water in a bog. In that dream, the word “Baiyou” came up as a description of the swampy, lush-with-vegetation area.

“Baiyou” sounds like “Bye-you,” as in “Good-bye, you.” As it turns out, the dreamer is saying good-bye to a beloved relationship–her daughter is getting married. The person is not leaving, but the relationship between mother and daughter is changing.

As a dear old friend used to say, “Change is deadly,” and this change is definitely challenging. It feels to the mother as if she is losing her daughter.

Dream interpretation: House surrounded by water

I looked at a few online dream interpretations for a dream in which a 2 or 3 story house is almost surrounded by shallow water. In the dream the area seemed like a bog. When the dreamer awoke she thought it could mean that she was bogged down. According to WikiHow:

If the water is stagnant, muddy, murky, or dirty, this is an indicator that you are not able to see clearly what your life’s goals are and you feel stuck, in a rut, unable to move into something that you sense you want to do but are unable to clearly pinpoint.

Dream Interpretation: Giving Birth

I recently talked with a young woman who had dreamed of giving birth. She wondered what the dream interpretation for giving birth might be. By the way, she is not pregnant, therefore, the dream is not her psyche going through a dry run of the birth. Here is an excerpt from one interpretation I found online. Since I have had similar dreams over the years, after a day when I was excited about a new creative project, I am not surprised to see the following dream interpretation under “Birth:”

To dream of giving birth or see someone else giving birth, suggests that you are giving birth to a new idea or project. It also represents a new attitude, fresh beginnings or a major event. Alternatively, the dream may be calling attention to your inner child and the potential for you to grow. A more direct interpretation of this dream, may represent your desires/ anxieties of giving birth or the anticipation for such an event to occur.

Waking up from a dream crying

Have you ever woken up from a dream and found yourself sobbing as if your heart were breaking? I recently received an email from a person who had recently had the experience. A quick online search for “waking up crying from a dream” brought up the following information from Dream Moods:

To wake up crying, represents some suppressed hurt or previous trauma that is coming up to the surface. You can no longer suppress these emotions. They need to be dealt with head on.
